Choose comic layouts: new pages and the current page
Start with Auto, choose page counts, and tell next-page generation settings apart from editing an existing page.
Leave Panels and Pages to generate on Auto to let your story guide the arrangement. Open manual controls only when you want more control.

Start with Auto
On desktop and mobile, Auto hides layout search and the template gallery. This is intentional. Choose a number in Panels to see a few matching layouts; use View all layouts only if you need more. Choosing a panel count is different from choosing a specific template. With Pages to generate: Auto, the story determines the page count; Auto does not mean one page. Choose 1 page when you need a single page.
What does the crown mean?

Recognizing Auto and search
The Auto selector keeps layout choice automatic. Selecting a specific panel count reveals matching layouts. Applying a specific template requires paid access; check the upgrade prompt for your account.
With a specific panel count selected, choose View all layouts to reveal Search layouts and find a template by name.
Change a page you already created
- Select the page you want to edit.
- Open Current page (Page N) in the sidebar, or the page menu’s layout action. Check the page number in the dialog.
- Choose a panel count to filter layouts. This alone does not change the saved page.
- Select a layout to apply it to that page. Applying a template requires paid access. If fewer panels would remove content, review the confirmation before continuing.
Use Undo to reverse an applied change. If saving fails, keep the dialog open and retry. Your next-page generation settings remain separate.

Set the layout for the next page
Use the layout icon beside the story input and check for Select layout for next page. Choose Auto, a panel count, or a paid template, then continue writing and select Generate. This control does not rearrange artwork already on the canvas. Multi-page planning below is for new comic creation.

Plan several new pages
- When starting a new comic, open Pages to generate and choose a page count. Choosing multiple pages or Custom page count requires paid access.
- Keep the shared layout to reuse it, or select Set layouts per page to reveal page tabs.
- Select a page tab, then choose its panel count and layout. For now, keep the same panel count on every page in one batch.
You can set a fixed page count before writing. With the page count on Auto, enter your story and use Arrange from story if you want page tabs to customize. If you change that story afterwards, select Update page plan before generating.
Different layouts, same panel count: for example, three pages with four panels each can use different arrangements. A mixed-count batch such as 3 + 5 + 2 panels is not reliably supported. If you need different counts, generate one page at a time and change the next page’s panel count before generating it.

The same rules apply in the mobile sheet: Auto stays compact; choosing a panel count reveals matching layouts. Scroll inside the sheet for page controls. You do not need to browse the layout catalog to get started.

Does a layout change the PDF paper size?
A layout arranges panels on a page. It does not guarantee a print size, export resolution, or removal of blank margins. For paper size and PDF preparation, read Print comics and prepare a PDF · Export PDF, ZIP, images and video.

Frequently asked questions about comic layouts
Does choosing four panels charge me four times?
Not simply for selecting a layout. The charge depends on what you generate next. Four independently rendered panel images can incur four model charges; a single full-page image can depict four visual frames within one image. Compare the actual costs and editing differences before choosing.
I have enough credits. Why does a custom layout still show a crown?
The crown is a plan-access requirement, not necessarily a low-credit warning. A one-time credit top-up does not unlock paid layout permissions. Check which plan unlocks the feature and your active subscription before purchasing more credits.
Can Standard create a page with more than four independent panels?
The published Standard plan currently lists a maximum of four panels per page. Pro and higher tiers have higher published limits, but a page's panel cap and a generation prompt's output cap are separate. Always confirm the current full feature table.
Can I apply different numbers of panels to different pages in one batch?
The current workflow is more reliable with one panel count across a multi-page batch. Different layouts with the same count are supported; mixed counts should be generated one page at a time until the workflow explicitly supports them. See Plan several new pages.
