What Costs Credits, What Doesn't?

Review my credit usage

Short answer: Selecting or typing something in an editor is not the same as asking an AI model to generate it. New AI-generated artwork and some AI-powered changes spend credits. The price depends on the active workflow, model, and action—not simply on the number of comic pages in your project.

At a glance: actions that use credits

ActionTypical chargeImportant detail
Generate one comic panel with Auto Model150 credits / panelThe default comic charge is per panel, not per page.
Generate a comic panel with a different modelModel-dependent; options can span 50–600 credits / panelChoose More Options → Model → Select a model. Available models and prices depend on the workflow and plan.
Generate an anime image with Auto Model100 credits / generationSeparate Anime workflow; not 100 credits for a comic panel.
Generate anime artwork with a different modelAs displayed for that modelDo not use the comic model's cost as the anime price.
Redraw or regenerate artworkCheck the displayed chargeA new AI run may consume additional credits even if an earlier version already exists.
AI-powered partial image editing / image-to-imageCheck the displayed chargeAn image-changing AI operation is different from moving an existing object.
Generate a character image, background, cover, or other assetCheck the selected tool and modelA cover and character assets are not automatically included in a body-panel estimate.
Translate artwork or regenerate embedded letteringCheck the active workflowTranslating editable text is different from generating a replacement image.
Video and independently requested upscale actionsCheck the selected model and operationStandalone operations may have their own displayed prices.

Always use the cost shown in the active generation control before confirming. The values above describe common defaults and example ranges; they are not a universal price list for every editor, plan, API endpoint, or model.

Actions that cost 0 credits when no AI generation is requested

The following manual actions do not by themselves create a new chargeable AI result. Some may require a particular editor or subscription plan.

Manual actionCost for the manual actionWhen that changes
Read existing projects or inspect generated panels0 credits to view an existing result.Selecting an AI regenerate action is different.
Type or revise a story outline, script, or prompt0 credits to manually type or edit existing text.Clicking an AI writing/generation tool may have its own cost.
Move, resize, or reorder existing editable text and speech bubbles0 credits for manual text-object editing.Repairing text baked into image pixels may require a paid AI edit or redraw.
Rearrange existing panel objects or adjust a layout0 credits to move existing objects without regeneration. If you then re-render artwork to match the new layout, check that generation's charge.
Reuse an existing generated character or reference in the editor0 credits to select an existing asset.Generating a new character image or revising artwork can cost credits.
Review generation history and available saved versions0 credits to inspect available versions.Restoring or re-editing behavior varies by tool and plan; check any confirmation.
View existing files, check balance, or open Usage0 credits to view existing usage and files.Exports, premium features, or AI-assisted processing may have separate plan or usage rules.

Important: These 0-credit manual actions are not a promise that every related feature is available on the Free plan or that AI writing tools, exports, or translations are free. Follow the actual plan and credit information shown in that specific tool.

Examples that remove the guesswork

Example A: 20 pages, 4 panels each

20 × 4 = 80 panels. Initial illustration budget:

  • 50-credit comic model: 80 × 50 = 4,000 credits, where available.
  • Comic Auto Model: 80 × 150 = 12,000 credits.
  • 300-credit comic model: 80 × 300 = 24,000 credits.
  • 600-credit comic model: 80 × 600 = 48,000 credits.

These estimates exclude extra renders, cover and back-cover artwork, character image generation, and any other charged operations. If you need an extra redraw of 10 panels, add the cost shown for those 10 redraw actions—not the cost of all 80 panels.

Example B: Anime Auto Model is a different unit

Ten anime generations using the default Auto Model cost 10 × 100 = 1,000 credits for those requests. This does not mean ten comic panels cost 1,000 credits: ten comic panels with the default Auto Model are 10 × 150 = 1,500 credits.

Example C: Fix a misspelled speech bubble

  • If the bubble is editable text, correct its text and placement in the editor without asking the image model to redraw it.
  • If the words are burned into the generated pixels, you may need partial modification, repair, or redraw. Review the proposed credit cost first.

See Fix speech bubbles, text, fonts, and reading order.

Frequently missed costs and surprises

Does one panel mean one whole page? No. A page may contain multiple panels, and the relevant Comic workflow is priced per panel, not at a fixed rate for an entire multi-panel page.

Is every retry free? Do not assume so. A redraw or regeneration can be a new charge. Check the action confirmation and Redraw one panel before repeating an expensive job.

Do failed generations automatically refund all credits? Not necessarily. Some workflows show an explicit refund after failure, but outcomes vary by operation. Check Generation failed but credits were deducted and match the project ID with Usage. Don't submit multiple retries until you confirm the original result.

Are subscriptions, one-time top-ups, and API credits interchangeable? No. They can have different validity and usage rules. Personal LlamaGen credits and Comic API credits are separate. Read How credits work.

Before you click Generate

  1. Confirm whether you're working in Comic (per panel) or Anime (per image-generation request).
  2. Open the model selector and check the current displayed cost.
  3. Multiply cost by the number of outputs you intend to request, then leave room for fixes and covers.
  4. Verify whether the operation is a new AI run or simply an edit of an existing object.
  5. After generation, inspect Credit Usage if anything is unexpected.
