Script Formatting

Storyboard AI adheres to standard screenplay formatting to ensure compatibility and readability.

Elements

  • Scene Heading (Slugline): Always in UPPERCASE. Indicates location (INT./EXT.) and time (DAY/NIGHT).
  • Action: Describes what is seen. Present tense.
  • Character: Name of the speaker, centered, UPPERCASE.
  • Dialogue: The spoken words, centered under the character name.
  • Parenthetical: Brief direction for the actor, e.g., (whispering), placed between Character and Dialogue.

Why Format Matters

The AI parses this format to understand:

  • Who is in the shot (Character names).
  • Where the shot is (Scene Headings).
  • What is happening (Action lines).

Breaking the format might confuse the AI when generating shots.
