Import your existing comics and character references into LlamaGen.ai from external files

Import a Comic

Bring your existing comics and character references into LlamaGen.ai using the Import Studio. This lets you continue editing, animating, or publishing work that was created elsewhere.

What You Can Import

Free plans can keep one character in total. If you already have one, you must upgrade before importing another.

Import Comics

Open Import Studio

Go directly to Import comics.

Upload Your Files

  1. Drag and drop your files into the upload area, or click to browse
  2. You can upload multiple files at once
  3. Supported formats: PDF, CBZ, ZIP, individual images, EPUB, and JSON

Tips for best results:

  • PDF files are split into individual pages automatically
  • CBZ and ZIP archives are extracted and each image becomes a page
  • Image files are sorted by filename; number them first if page order matters
  • HEIC files from iPhone are supported directly

Review and Reorder Pages

After upload, you will see the imported pages as cards in a grid.

  1. Reorder pages by dragging the cards, or use their move controls
  2. Add captions to individual pages by clicking the caption area
  3. Remove pages you don't need by clicking the remove button
  4. Verify the reading order matches your original comic

Captions are limited to 280 characters per page. Keep them concise for the best reading experience.

Finalize the Import

  1. Enter a title for your imported comic (max 120 characters)
  2. Review the page count and order
  3. Click Add to comics to create the comic in your library
  4. Wait for the progress bar to complete

Select Character Import

Go directly to Import characters.

Upload Character References

Upload reference images that show your character from different angles.

Recommended character views:

  • Front — facing the viewer directly
  • Side — profile view
  • Back — rear view
  • Three-quarter — angled view
  • Expression — close-up of facial expressions
  • Outfit — full body showing clothing details
  • Detail — accessories, props, or unique features
  1. Drag and drop your character reference images
  2. Assign each image a view label (Front, Side, Back, etc.)
  3. Add optional notes to describe the character

Complete the Import

  1. Enter a name for your character
  2. Review all views and labels
  3. Click Add to characters to add the character to your library
  4. The character is now available for use in comics with consistency

If your comic has more than 40 pages, split it into multiple imports.

Troubleshooting

Import Failed or Stuck

  • Check that your file is not corrupted
  • Verify the file size is under 80 MB
  • Try a different format (e.g., convert CBZ to individual images in a ZIP)
  • Make sure image files are in a supported format (PNG, JPG, WEBP, HEIC, AVIF)

Pages Are Out of Order

  • Drag the page cards in the grid to reorder them manually
  • Number your files before uploading (e.g., page_01.png, page_02.png)
  • PDF pages are extracted in document order

Character Views Not Recognized

  • Assign view labels manually after upload
  • Use clear, well-lit reference images
  • Avoid group photos — each image should show one character only
