Autosave, Version history, Archive, and Restore
Understand which controls protect work and how to recover a prior project state without assuming every workspace behaves the same way.
Time: 5–10 minutes.
Saving behavior is workspace-specific. Do not assume that every editor autosaves on the same schedule or that every action can be undone after closing the browser.
Before a large change
- Confirm that the project has a stable URL and ID.
- Wait for any visible saving or generation state to finish.
- Download an external copy of any approved deliverable.
- Open Version history or Generation history if the workspace provides it.
- For a risky alternate direction, make a project branch or copy when that action is available.
Review and restore a prior version
In Comic Studio, open the project menu and look for Version history. Select a dated version, inspect the preview, and use the restore control only after confirming the target. Restoring can replace the current project state, so preserve any current work you still need.
Access to older versions can depend on plan and retention rules shown in the product. The current product UI is the source of truth.
Generation history versus Version history
- Generation history helps compare generated panel or image outcomes.
- Version history represents saved project states and can support restoring a prior state.
The exact scope differs by workspace; inspect the preview before restoring.
Archive and restore
Use Archive to move a project out of the active project list without treating it as a permanent deletion. Open the Archive area to review or restore archived work. Archive availability can be plan-dependent.
Do not use Delete when you intend to recover the item later. A deletion flow can have different recovery behavior from Archive.
If recent work is missing
Reopen the same project URL and account before creating a replacement. Record the last known save time, time zone, affected page or panel, browser, and actions immediately before the loss. Contact support with the project ID and those details.
