Story Workspace Quick Start: Idea to Visual Brief
Turn a premise into organized scenes, reusable character assets, visual briefs, and a production-ready storyboard, comic, or manga plan.
Use this workflow to move from an idea to a visual production brief without mixing story decisions, generation prompts, and review notes.
Create the project skeleton
- Write a one-sentence premise.
- Add the intended audience and format.
- List the beginning, major turn, and ending.
- Create one note for each principal character.
- Split the outline into scenes with one dramatic change per scene.
Draft reusable character notes
Record each character's goal, conflict, voice, relationships, stable visual traits, and approved reference images. Put temporary outfit or injury details in the scene, not in the permanent identity description.
Convert a scene into visual beats
Break the scene into the fewest images needed to communicate the action. For each beat, name the subject, action, location, emotion, framing, and continuity requirement. Keep spoken dialogue in its own field so it can become screenplay dialogue, captions, or speech bubbles later.

Review before production
- Every scene changes the story.
- Character names and motivations are consistent.
- Visual briefs do not contradict the prose.
- Locations, props, and outfits carry over correctly.
- The selected output format matches the number of beats.
- Collaborators know which draft is approved.
Once approved, duplicate or archive the planning draft before broad visual revisions. This keeps the original story decisions available when image or storyboard experiments diverge.
